Wal-Mart looks for hard-working students who are eager to learn, strive for academic excellence and want to become future leaders. Starting September 1, 2008, you can apply for our 2009 Corporate Internship Program. Take the first in building a strong foundation with a world-renowned organization.

To be considered for an internship with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., you should have the preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be one of the following:

  • Entering or currently in your junior or senior year of college as of May 31, 2009
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or MBA program as of May 31, 2009
  • Have completed your degree but are required to complete an internship before you can receive your diploma.

Frequently asked questions

Interns will be given a project to complete by the end of their experience. Interns are given checkpoints and guidance from their managers to make sure they are on the right track. These projects could include: redesigning the corporate Web site, predicting consumer behavior to optimize seasonal product mix, working with project development teams to develop and implement new products and integrating newly installed programs for the company.

Wal-Mart’s Home Office (corporate headquarters) is located in Bentonville, AR, a growing metropolis with a friendly, hometown atmosphere. Bentonville is located in the northwest region of Arkansas and is surrounded by the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Yes! Bentonville is just one of the many cities with which Wal-Mart internships are available. Associates have interned in Washington, DC, Brisbane, CA, Boston, MA and New York, NY.
The internship program gives interns the chance to advance their careers within Wal-Mart. An internship is just the first step in opening the door to a successful position with Wal-Mart, with many opportunities for interns to earn a second internship the following year or even to become a full-time associate.
Interns work with a specific team during their internship; however, one unique aspect of Wal-Mart’s culture is that all associates, including interns, can move around the company and work with many departments.
Wal-Mart internships are full-time, paid positions for 12 weeks in the areas of realty, legal, information systems, MBA Intern Program and pharmacy. Internships in all other areas are full-time positions for 10 weeks.
